The State of EMV: Fact or Fiction

  • Presented by :
  • Aleia Van Dyke
  • Research Topic(s):
  • Tech & Infrastructure
  • Fraud Management
  • Paid Content

The U.S. EMV roadmap has existed since 2012, providing the payments industry with plenty of time to prepare for the transition from magnetic stripe cards to smart cards. Yet, the industry has been slow to respond and prepare for the monumental task. Now, with only 18 months until the deadline of 2015, the pressure is on.

This webinar assesses the current state of merchant and issuer readiness to provide a cohesive view of where the industry stands today, where these stakeholders will be by the impending liability shift milestone in 2015 and what it will cost for them to get to EMV ubiquity.

Join Javelin industry analysts, Nick Holland and Aleia Van Dyke, as they explore:

  • - How quickly will retailers and other merchants upgrade to EMV-capable terminals, and at what cost?
  • - How knowledgeable are merchants about EMV?
  • - What obstacles will EMV transition pose for card networks, merchants, financial institutions and others?
  • - What is needed to help consumers transition to a new card experience?
  • - What is the implication for fraud costs?
