Overview
This scorecard provides a benchmark of general-purpose credit card products from 10 major issuers. Javelin Strategy & Research evaluates credit card products by six criteria that are backed by findings from our consumer survey research. We spotlight the overall winner with an annual fee and without an annual fee and explain our selection. Javelin does not select a category winner, particularly because some categories such as rates would produce winners with the lowest or highest rates and would be relatively unhelpful in the overall design of a card program. Instead, Javelin has opted to provide a benchmark report on the basis of annual fee that is segmented by generational weighting. This scorecard is for the overall and generational category winners for mass-market credit card products without an annual fee and those with an annual fee of up to $120.
Key questions discussed in this report:
- What are the top credit card products with and without an annual fee for mass-market consumers?
- What are the areas of improvement for card programs to satisfy the average consumer?
- What are the evaluative criteria for issuers to measure the strengths and weaknesses of their card programs?
